What We Do
Our business is changing lives, not just fund raising.

Working with health and human services agencies, businesses and volunteers, United Way focuses on improving lives. We are a leader and your partner in making Eau Claire a stronger, healthier more compassionate community. United Way has been an important part of the Eau Claire community since 1966.

United Way has two roles in our community:

  • Our first role, and the one that sets United Way apart from other charitable organizations, is to bring segments of the community together to focus on community solutions. United Way of Greater Eau Claire is a leader in developing this spirit of cooperation in our community. As a community builder, we have the unique ability to bring organizations, government, and businesses to the table to maximize resources and expertise to solve problems and impact lives.
  • Our second role is to provide funding to services that meet specific needs in the community. Through the United Way annual fundraising campaign, individual gifts are combined with the donations of others and their impact multiplied to make a powerful and lasting difference in our community. When you give to United Way, your gift stays in the Eau Claire area, making it a better place for all of us to live and work.

United Way of Greater Eau Claire is made up of people like you, volunteers who lend their hands, their hearts, and their time. They decide the campaign goal, which programs should receive funding, and how much each agency should receive.  They review United Way's monthly operations, and serve on the Board of Directors. Without their selfless actions, United Way would not be able to bring services to those who need our help the most.

In addition to our volunteers, United Way of Greater Eau Claire employs a small paid staff that provides continuity. They exist and succeed because of the support we receive from you. We believe in teamwork - we bring donors and volunteers together with community leaders, program partner agencies and other experts to address the most pressing issues in our community.

United Way of Greater Eau Claire is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) to which donations qualify as tax deductible for income tax purposes.
